2017 School Renovations

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) will be using the funds it received from the province to go towards bankrolling major renovations at the Claremont Public School in Pickering. The renovations will include the demolition of the original portion of the school built in 1923, replaced with a new two-storey building with four classrooms and a mechanical room, and a three-room childcare centre. Construction on the project will begin in the spring of 2017 with a planned completion date of December 2017.

Although the Claremont residents agree it is wonderful to provide new facilities to the students, they also want to preserve the old portion of the building for historical purposes.

Suggestion:  Maybe we can use some of the school lumber from the demolition to build the new Claremont Roadside Attraction?
